The Boot has come a long way since the 17th Century, Take a look at some of our journey below.

Atmosphere

We have a wedding paddock with space for up to 150 in beautiful tipis – guests can stroll through the large & rambling pub garden (maybe after a session on our petanque pistes) into our massive kitchen garden loaded with heritage English fruit & vegetables. Sit amongst the trees and admire the view out over the River Orwell taking in the duck pond, chickens, snail beds & bee hives in the neighbouring wild flower meadow. Or book a summer function in our greenhouse area.

Kitchen

We’re all about seasonal and local produce here at The Boot. With our own kitchen garden, chickens and smokehouse, much of what we cook is from our very own produce! We source all our game, meat and seafood from local sustainable game keepers, farmers and fishermen.

Our Animals

The duck pond is at the start of our Animal Trail, which is always popular with our younger guests, who can get ‘up and close’ to some of our 2 & 4-legged friends.
George & Eric, our resident goats, are next door to a couple of lovely lady potbellied pigs. You’ll probably be able to hear our turkeys and our wonderful native Suffolk ducks.

Say hi to our chickens who, if you’re dining with us, might have helped to supplied you with your meal! Finally, we have three sheep – an Icelandic ram and two Hebridean ewes. You’ll find them grazing in the wedding paddock – that’s up at the top of the hill, just past the pétanque piste.

The Boot

The 400 year old building has been restored to a beautiful standard and given a new lease of life, with integrated up-to-date technology and innovative features (hats off to The Really Good Carpentry Co).
